Jacs'

The Jacaranda (Jacaranda mimosifolia) is a flowering tree native to South America's sub-tropical regions. It's known for its vibrant violet-colored flowers that bloom in clusters in spring and early summer. The tree's fern-like leaves and bare branches make the flowers appear even more striking, creating a fantastical look. Popular shade and street trees in Southern California, jacarandas are a welcome marker of springtime. In late spring and summer, jacarandas treat residents to breathtaking blooms—lavender-purple flowers that cover the tree's spreading crown, and then carpet the ground beneath the tree with color.

The average lifespan of a jacaranda tree is 50 years- They can obviously grow a lot longer with some lasting well up to 200 years old.

In folklore the jacaranda is associated with wisdom, rebirth, wealth and good luck. If you wear jacaranda pods, it is thought to bring good fortune. Wear JACs

These trees are not native to California but were introduced by horticulturist Kate Sessions and are now common throughout Southern California, particularly in warmer, inland areas like Pasadena.
